Checklists Release Notes

Latest Updates:

May 2026

Coming soon:

  • FIX [Pro] Unexpected error in JSM Portal widget.

  • FIX [Pro] Limits appearing on template length for Pro customers, while templates should not have a limit on Pro and Enterprise versions.

  • FIX [Pro][Enterprise] Some apps not being able to integrate with custom fields showing a limit error

  • FIX Default checklist could not be saved as a template sometimes

  • FIX Templates could not be loaded sometimes for very large lists of templates

  • FIX [Free] Admin settings and space settings pages not visible.

May 15, 2026 [Enterprise 21.0.0]

  • FIX Admin settings missing after Forge update

May 13 2026 [Pro 17.0.0]; [Enterprise 18.0.0]

  • FIX [Enterprise] Modal dialogs not opening for Load Templates, markup editor, etc.

  • Some improvements for tracking errors and protecting against timeouts.

May 11 2026:

  • FORGE Updated work item creation trigger to Forge.

May 8, 2026 [Pro 16.0]: Forge migration release and bugfixes

  • FORGE [Pro] Removed leftover Connect modules that have already been migrated to Forge. Previous settings and data should not be affected.

    • Removed deprecated “Checklist Template” field. Don’t worry, setting default templates still works as usual! This was a very old custom field that has been earmarked for removal. On the off chance that you were using it, you can set default templates by work item type, or use automation to apply templates by label.

  • FIX Users not receiving notifications from the markup editor

  • FIX Not being able to drag and drop a newly added checklist item

  • FIX Empty list when trying to load templates without template viewing permissions instead of limited permission message.

  • FIX Not being able to sometimes add multiple items to the markup editor.

April 2026

April 30, 2026 Work item checklist view is updated to Forge!

  • FORGE ⚠️ The work item checklist view panels, both center panel and context panel are now in Forge. Because Jira now hides panels that are not currently in use. If you want to keep the panel visible when it is empty, a user with project manager permissions can pin the panel for all users. More on this: The Checklist Panel

  • FORGE We’ve slightly updated the UI to match the new Atlassian design kit

  • FORGE Checklist history is also now in Forge

  • FORGE JSM modules for showing checklist progress and checklist contents to customers have also been migrated. They are now located in the Apps section.

  • For now, when you open Manage Templates from work item view, it will open the Template Manager in a new tab instead of the modal dialog.

  • DEPRECATED Because Forge does not support third-party modules on mobile Jira [FRGE-1492], checklists will no longer work in the mobile app. However, you can still use the web version of checklists on mobile devices.

  • ⚠️ Panel title: if you use alternative panel titles (e.g. Acceptance criteria, Definition of done), they may be reset to Checklists after the update. These can be set to your preferred title again in Manage apps → Checklists for Jira → Global Settings.

  • Along the way, we’ve fixed some small bugs in the work item view and markup editor as well:

    • FIX Fixed the bug where it was not possible to select a due date using the markup editor.

    • FIX Checklist history items with work item links now display item keys as correct links

Another Forge update, Templates are now Forge-ready!

  • FORGE Template manager along with setting default templates is now running on Forge.

  • ⚠️ The Checklist tab is renamed to Checklist Templates for clarity.

Forge Custom fields are now live

  • FORGE Checklist related custom fields are now running on Forge. ⚠️ This may cause some older work items to trigger an update if you have Sync custom fields enabled, because Jira considers some of these new fields.

    • Checklist Text should be completely unaffected.

    • Checklist Text (view only) may change its ID and might have to be refreshed. Note that it is technically editable, but edits by users will be discarded on next checklist update.

    • Progress fields

  • KNOWN ISSUE Custom field update requests are currently limited to 32 kb. When saving some extremely long and detailed checklists, some fields like progress percent might not always get updated.
