Convert Checklist Item to Jira Work Item

Checklist items can also be converted into new Jira work items. When the new work item is created, the original checklist item will be marked complete.

To create a work item from a checklist item:

1. Click on the Convert button in the checklist item toolbar.
   

   

2. The Create Work item dialog will open with pre-filled fields:

   1. The Project will be set to the same project as the original work item.

   2. The Summary will be set to the text of the checklist item

   3. The description will say, “Converted from checklist item in [ITEM-KEY]” and the item description if there is one.

   4. If the create dialog includes a due date field, it will be pre-filled with the first valid date on the checklist item.

      

3. Complete any additional required fields.

4. Click Create.

5. The new work item will be created with a Relates to link to the work item that had the original checklist item. The original checklist item will be marked as complete, and will include a link to the newly created work item.

   

Convert Incomplete Checklist Item to Subtasks

Incomplete local checklist items can be instantly converted into Jira subtasks. The newly created subtasks will be children of the original Jira work item.

To convert incomplete checklist items to subtasks.

1. Click on the …menu for the checklist.

2. Select Convert unchecked items to subtasks.
